Brockenhurst Pre-School is a charity, run by a voluntary committee of parent trustees who are elected each year at the AGM. The committee is responsible for the overall management of Pre-School including employing staff, controlling budgets and fundraising. The committee usually meets every six weeks to discuss fund-raising and to organise the regular tasks that have to be done to ensure the smooth running of Pre-School.
Brockenhurst Pre-School is a registered charity and we are always looking for additional committee members so please contact a member of staff or committee member if you can help in any way.
Melanie Edwards (Chair)
Hello, my name is Melanie Edwards and I am the Chair for the Pre-School. I have lived in Brockenhurst for over 20 years. I have three children, two born at our home in Brockenhurst and now all three are starting on their own journeys into the world with two at university and one in sixth form at Brockenhurst College. All three loved the play group as it was called in those days and it certainly was their first step away from home. The Pre-School plays an important part for the children getting used to being away from mum and dad and also making friends. My three are still in touch with their play group friends and it is also important for the parents to make friends and I was on the committee all those years ago and last year we celebrated our silver wedding anniversary with some of those friends! We, as a committee, have a chance not only to fundraise for new equipment but also to guide the direction of the PreSchool. With a variety of skills which new members bring it will help the Pre-School to grow and flourish.
Hi, I’m Natasha and I moved to Brockenhurst from London in November 2014. I am married with two children, Wilfie and Nixie who loved their time at the Pre-School. My background is Law and Human Resources and I am hoping to be able to help the Pre-School committee by using these skills and also to help the committee to raise funds for resources for equipment.
Hello, I’m Clare Morris. My little girl Peony has attended Pre-School and loved her time there. She enjoyed the huge range of different activities that take place. Peony made such good friends there and adored all the ladies who cared for her so well. I joined the committee as a way to support the Pre-School, particularly to help with fundraising as the Pre-School is run as a charity. It has also been a fun way to make friends with other Mums and become more active in village life.
Hi, I’m Jo. My daughter absolutely loved Pre-School and all the staff, she is very nostalgic about her time here. She made lots of good friends which she has now gone to primary school with. I have made some lovely friends too and it’s helped us as a family to integrate into the village after moving here from Cambridge 4 years ago. Now my son, who is 3, attends 2 mornings a week and enjoys it too, especially all the outdoor play and the new village MUGA. I am enjoying helping with fundraising and being involved in some of the decisions made by the committee.
Hi, I’m Katie and have 2 daughters aged 4 and 6. They are now both at Brockenhurst Primary School, and one of the reasons I liked Pre-School so much was because of how many children go up from Pre-School to Year R together – I think having so many familiar faces really helps them to settle into school. My youngest daughter Bethany is 4 and absolutely loved her mornings at Pre-School, especially painting and all the craft activities! She really enjoyed staying for lunch and had a wonderful time being part of the little Pre-School crowd. I enjoy being part of the committee and helping with fund-raising to support this brilliant charity run Pre-School.
