At Brockenhurst Pre-School we give children the opportunity to play in the fresh air, we foster their ideas and care for them in a stimulating environment. I believe that with a positive attitude to learning, children will reach their full potential in later life, we are building those foundations.

I was brought up in New Zealand where I have worked across both early years and nanny settings. I really enjoy teaching young children including teaching sailing using my RYA qualification. Montessori International teaching diploma.

I have two gorgeous boys and a few small animals. We live in Hordle and love being nestled between the Sea and the New Forest. I have always wanted to teach young children and believe that allowing them to learn through play is the best way. My particular strengths are art and craft.

Brockenhurst Pre-school is run by a committee of parents who are elected each September at the AGM. The committee is responsible for the overall management of Pre-school including employing staff, controlling budgets and fundraising. The committee usually meets every six weeks to discuss fund-raising and to organise the regular tasks that have to be done to ensure the smooth running of Pre-school.

Brockenhurst Pre-school is a registered charity and we are always looking for additional committee members so please contact a member of staff or committee member if you can help in any way.

Please support your committee – help from parents is vital for both fund-raising and for the day-to-day running of Pre-school.

Melanie Edwards (Chairman)
Hello my name is Melanie Edwards and I am the Chair for the Pre-School. I have lived in Brockenhurst for over 20 years. I have three children, two born at our home in Brockenhurst and now all three are starting on their own journeys into the world with two at university and one in sixth form at Brockenhurst College. All three loved the play group as it was called in those days and it certainly was their first step away from home. The Pre-School plays an important part for the children getting used to being away from mum and dad and also making friends. My three are still in touch with their play group friends and it is also important for the parents to make friends and I was on the committee all those years ago and last year we celebrated our silver wedding anniversary with some of those friends! We, as a committee, have a chance not only to fundraise for new equipment but also to guide the direction of the pre school. With a variety of skills which new members bring it will help the Pre-School to grow and flourish.

Natasha Young
Hi, I’m Natasha and I moved to Brockenhurst from London in November 2014. I am married with two children aged 2 and two months.  Wilfie, our eldest, loves the pre-school which he attends for three mornings each week. My background is law and human resources and I am hoping to be able to help the pre school committee by using these skills and also to help the committee to raise funds for resources for equipment.

Clare Morris
Hello, I’m Clare Morris. My little girl Peony has attended Pre-school since she was nearly 3. She loves her time there and enjoys the huge range of different activities that take place. Peony has made such good friends and adores all the ladies who care for her so well. I joined the committee as a way to support the preschool, particularly to help with fundraising as the preschool is run as a charity. It has also been a fun way to make friends with other Mums and become more active in village life.
