Meet the Team

Our Staff

We have a wonderful team of highly trained staff, who as experienced parents themselves know the importance of creating a happy, caring environment within our PreSchool.

Caroline Patience
Supervisor and Safeguarding Lead

Post Graduate Certificate in Education, Paediatric first aid

Caroline has worked at Brockenhurst Pre School since 2017 after working as a Primary School Teacher for 10 years. She has 3 young children and when not at Pre-School is often camping or getting muddy in the forest with her own children.

Claire Johnson
Deputy Supervisor / Special Needs Coordinator

Level 4 Montessori Early Years Teaching Diploma, Paediatric first aid

Claire has worked at the Pre School since 2017 and has more than 20 years’ experience working in different Early Years settings. She has two boys who are now at secondary school and when not at Pre School can be found beach combing with her family.

Teresa Ridgewell
PreSchool Assistant

Level 3 Early Years NVQ, Paediatric first aid

Teresa has been part of Brockenhurst Pre School since 2018 after working with children and babies for more than 30 years. On her days off she can be found trotting around the forest on her horse or taking her dogs for a walk.

Meg Grant
PreSchool Assistant

Post Graduate Certificate in Education, Paediatric first aid

Meg joined the team in 2018 and used to work as a French and Spanish teacher in London before taking a career break to bring up her three young children. When not at Pre-School she enjoys helping on the kids team at church, finding interesting things to ferment in the kitchen and exploring the forest with her family.

Our Committee

Brockenhurst Pre-School is run by a committee of parents who are elected each year at the AGM. The committee is responsible for the overall management of Pre-School including employing staff, controlling budgets and fundraising. The committee usually meets every six weeks to discuss fund-raising and to organise the regular tasks that have to be done to ensure the smooth running of Pre-School.

Brockenhurst Pre-School is a registered charity and we are always looking for additional committee members so please contact a member of staff or committee member if you can help in any way.

Melanie Edwards (Chair)

Hello, my name is Melanie Edwards and I am the Chair for the Pre-School. I have lived in Brockenhurst for over 20 years. I have three children, two born at our home in Brockenhurst and now all three are starting on their own journeys into the world with two at university and one in sixth form at Brockenhurst College. All three loved the play group as it was called in those days and it certainly was their first step away from home. The Pre-School plays an important part for the children getting used to being away from mum and dad and also making friends. My three are still in touch with their play group friends and it is also important for the parents to make friends and I was on the committee all those years ago and last year we celebrated our silver wedding anniversary with some of those friends! We, as a committee, have a chance not only to fundraise for new equipment but also to guide the direction of the PreSchool. With a variety of skills which new members bring it will help the Pre-School to grow and flourish.

Natasha Young

Hi, I’m Natasha and I moved to Brockenhurst from London in November 2014. I am married with two children aged 2 and two months.  Wilfie, our eldest, loves the Pre-School which he attends for three mornings each week. My background is Law and Human Resources and I am hoping to be able to help the Pre-School committee by using these skills and also to help the committee to raise funds for resources for equipment.

Clare Morris

Hello, I’m Clare Morris. My little girl Peony has attended Pre-School since she was nearly 3. She loves her time there and enjoys the huge range of different activities that take place. Peony has made such good friends and adores all the ladies who care for her so well. I joined the committee as a way to support the Pre-School, particularly to help with fundraising as the Pre-School is run as a charity. It has also been a fun way to make friends with other Mums and become more active in village life.

Jo Martin

Hi, I’m Jo. My daughter absolutely loved Pre-School and all the staff, she is very nostalgic about her time here. She made lots of good friends which she has now gone to primary school with. I have made some lovely friends too and it’s helped us as a family to integrate into the village after moving here from Cambridge 3 years ago. Now my son, who is 2, attends 4 mornings a week and enjoys it too, especially all the outdoor play and the new village MUGA. I am enjoying helping with fundraising and being involved in some of the decisions made by the committee.

Katie Everett

Hi, I’m Katie and have 2 daughters aged 3 and 5. My eldest is now at Brockenhurst Primary School, and one of the reasons I liked Pre-School so much was because of how many children go up from Pre-School to Year R together – I think having so many familiar faces really helps them to settle into school. My youngest daughter Bethany is 3 and absolutely loves her mornings at Pre-School, especially painting and all the craft activities! She now stays for lunch too and has a really lovely time being part of the little Pre-School crowd.
